Ballyknocken is home to Irish Celebrity TV Chef, Day Time Emmy Nominated and award-winning food writer Catherine Fulvio. Growing up on a farm in Ireland, Catherine can really appreciate the source of our daily ingredients and actively thinks about the way our food is produced. Now third generation at Ballyknocken House, Catherine’s Irish blood and Italian heart is a winning combination.

Meet Catherine

With her effervescent charm and personality, Catherine Fulvio is an ardent supporter of fresh local produce and one of Ireland’s top culinary stars.

Born and raised at Ballyknocken, a working farm, Catherine has an inherent knowledge and understanding of food and cherishes the land and its produce.

An expert cook, her recipes reflect seasonal, easily sourced, quality ingredients and she is known for her no-fuss approach to food with a twist.

Farm to Fork

With our passion for good food and and our farm to fork ethos, Ballyknocken House & Cookery School is lucky enough to be able to avail of the wonderful seasonal produce from our vegetable, herb and soft-fruit gardens in our cookery classes and the delicious mouth watering meals we serve in our Farmhouse.

Catherine continues to be a supporter of local producers for good quality produce like our local butchers and also has had some fun recently foraging for ingredients for Glendalough Gin.

CAREER…

Nominated for a Day Time Emmy for her role as Outstanding Culinary Host on her US TV series “A Taste of Ireland” on Recipe.TV, Catherine also has a number of other food series under her belt; Catherine Fulvio’s Taste Like Home, A Taste of Success, Catherine’s Italian Kitchen, Catherine’s Roman Holiday, Catherine’s Family Kitchen to name but a few. She also co-hosted Lords & Ladles alongside Derry Clarke & Paul Flynn.

She has had live TV appearances in the UK on the ever-popular BBC Saturday Kitchen and in America on the NBC’s Today Show where she has appeared numerous times on the top morning show. In addition, she co-hosted the popular BBC Best Christmas Food Ever with Chef Paul Ainsworth.

Catherine is an award-winning author of six cookbooks and as well as hosting regular cookery classes Catherine tours the island of Ireland as a keynote speaker, making appearances at festivals and events, hosting cookery demonstrations drawing crowds of up to 600.

Back home at Ballyknocken, Catherine and her team of expert tutors’ welcome international guests as well as playing host to corporate team building and private events in the cookery school on a daily basis.

There’s nothing Catherine likes more than sharing her story and her experiences as she takes to the stage to entertain and educate in her themed presentations. Catherine Fulvio is the true essence of a female entrepreneur, with a very strong business & marketing background, she opened Ballyknocken Cookery School in 2003 and specialises in creating tailor-made classes for companies seeking alternative and highly creative team-building exercises and incentive events.

Catherine speaks at high profile events including the National Women’s Conference, International Women’s Day, Tourism Live Conference and The Irish Hotels’ Federation Annual Conference and is an accomplished and confident speaker.

Her strong business background, entrepreneurial flair and her international success is commendable while all the time she remains accessible and entertaining. Her experience as a female entrepreneur has resulted in many highly accountable and relevant stories as she has navigated her way through tough business times as well as memorable moments.
