Irish Griddle Bread Making

Welcome to Ballyknocken Cookery School, set on wonderful grounds with delightful herb and vegetable gardens.

Griddle bread, more commonly known as Soda Farls are a wonderful old tradition where the farls were cooked on a flat sheet or pan over the open fire. Join us in an exclusive hands-on experience where you get to make your own griddle bread and we promise, there is nothing nicer than cutting the steaming warm bread open, layering with Irish smoked salmon and flavoured crème fraiche, then relaxing after your hard work in the kitchen at our cookery school with a true taste of real Ireland. In this hands-on experience you get to perfect, from an expert, how to make this tasty slice of Irish culinary history.

DESCRIPTION

This recipe is a family favourite passed down through the generations of home bakers at Ballyknocken Farmhouse and has been shown by Catherine on NBC Today Show and on Recipe.tv, where it has been warmly welcomed and recreated in many home kitchens around the world. You’ll also have the chance to purchase signed copies one of Catherine’s 4 award winning cookbooks, see the sheep in the fields and soak up the beauty of the gardens when you are here. Close by is Glendalough, Mont usher Gardens and Powerscourt gardens if you are taking a day trip from Dublin.
